An alternative to volatile equity investments

Ruffer offers a discretionary investment management service to institutional clients including pension funds, family offices, corporations, investment companies and insurance companies. We may give advice as part of this service.

Institutions that invest with Ruffer can have their own segregated portfolio, or invest via a pooled fund.

Segregated portfolios can be tailored to clients’ requirements – to incorporate investment restrictions, for example – providing complete transparency to the underlying investments.

As at 29 February 2020, institutional clients accounted for £12.3 billion of Ruffer’s £19.1 billion of assets under management.

Where does Ruffer fit?

We have a distinctive investment approach, although it is sometimes categorised as ‘diversified growth’ or ‘dynamic asset allocation’.

Institutional clients typically use us in one of three ways

  • - as the manager for all of their assets
  • - as part of their allocation to uncorrelated alternative assets
  • - as part of the growth assets in a strategic asset allocation
