Summer Associate programme

Summer Associate programme

The programme will provide university students with the opportunity to come in and learn what a career in finance is all about. You will gain exposure to the different parts of the business through a number of workshops and inductions. We will also provide you with some educational training to help develop your knowledge of financial markets.

Aside from your daily tasks, you will be responsible for completing a number of individual as well as group projects, which will include managing your own virtual portfolio and learning how to write an investment report.

If you are successful in your application, you will join a team in either our Front Office department, who work directly with clients, helping to manage their investment portfolios, or our Research department, who focus on analysing investments and the financial markets.

If you have a preferred department that you would like to work in, please state this on your application form, otherwise we will decide which department we think would be most suited to you.

Who is it for?

If you are interested in a career in finance, but would like to learn more, this programme could provide you with the perfect opportunity to grow your understanding of the industry and help to clarify which role might be suitable for you.

The programme is aimed at students in their penultimate or final year of study. We will be looking for students who are on course to achieve a minimum of a 2:1 degree in any subject.

When is it?

The programme will run for six weeks (usually July to mid–August) and you will be required to be present on all of the week days during that period. You will be working in our London office at 80 Victoria Street, SW1E 5JL.

How do I apply?

Applications for our 2020 Summer Associate programme will open early next year. As part of the application process, successful candidates will be required to attend an assessment centre (usually around February).

If you have any further queries about the programme please do not hesitate to get in touch hr@ruffer.co.uk.
