Graduate Recruitment:

We currently recruit between two and five graduates a year for our graduate programme.  If you would like to be considered for the programme starting in September 2009, please apply by 31 December 2008.  After this time, we do accept applications but these will be considered on an individual basis.  Applicants should be expecting to receive a 2:1 or 1st from a leading university.  We look for graduates who are committed to working in an environment which fosters a unique investment style.

The graduate programme involves an initial training period in which trainees are introduced to Ruffer's investment process and learn the mechanics of our business.  The length of this placement varies depending on the individual's progress, but at the earliest opportunity, we are looking to offer successful trainees an Investment Associate role in one of our Investment Management teams.  In this team, the Investment Associate will support and report directly to an Investment Director or Manager.  The role includes assisting the Manager or Director in implementing changes to client portfolios, preparing client reports, dealing with day to day portfolio administration, client queries and attending client meetings.  We are looking for graduates who have a passion for investment, the aptitude and motivation to fulfil the associate role, and the ambition to become one of our Investment Directors.

Internship programme:

We take a small number of interns during the summer for a six to eight week placement.  The internship will enable successful candidates to be exposed to each area of our business.  We accept applications from those who are interested in pursuing our graduate recruitment programme, who are in their penultimate year of university.  Applicants should be expecting to receive a 2:1 or 1st from a leading university.  Our internship programme for summer 2008 is now full.  If you would like to be considered for our internship programme during summer 2009, please apply by 1 February 2009, following which time we will hold interviews for successful applicants.  Please email your CV and covering letter to intern@ruffer.co.uk.
